Christmas Eve Day

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
-Linus Van Pelt

Merry Christmas all. I thought I would post a pic of the shoes I ran in this morning. They are called "screw shoes." Although I made this pair, they weren't an original Jeff Rayburn Design. I got the idea here.

Fun run this morning with my #1 and the Pink Flash. What a terrific way to start the holidays.

Linus was right. Don't let the commercialism ruin your Christmas. Blessings.

Happy Gilmore

For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. - Jesus, The Gospel according to St. Mark.

Tough times don't last but tough people do.  - A.C. Green, L.A. Lakers

Susie and I picked up the "BIG CHECK" from Walmart today.  Thanks to the efforts of Kim Allison and fellow "Team Walmart" walkers and bikers during this years Chloë K 5K Run Rock and Ride, OAR received this grant for $1000.

The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) will put these funds to use immediately by providing resources to help families dealing with autism.  OAR also funds research to multiple autism studies.  Additionally, OAR writes publications targeting specific autism needs, the latest of which focuses on military families.  Publications from OAR are available as well as more information on autism from their website.  Click here to be redirected.

To find out how to become part of my fundraising team, click here.

Zach and I are running the new Chicago Rock and Roll Half Marathon this Sunday for OAR.  It's another chance to get the word out.  Zach has been training some on his own and with the high school cross country team.  After a 13.1 mile race, he should tear up the cross country course.

As for me, I would of course like to PR.  Unfortunately though, I got a little overzealous in my marathon training and have done some damage to my legs.  At this point, I just want to loosen up quickly and run a good race.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

The Morocco Hustle AKA The Morocco Challenge

Not much to say today, I got some pics from the Morocco Paper today regarding their article about the Memorial Weekend 5K.

They failed to mention that three hardcore, bad mamajamas from Rensselaer, biked the 19 miles to their Newton County hamlet, kicked butt in the race, and then rode home.

Next post will have pics from the MC 200 Relay.

2009 CK5K RRR

Lord, grant what thou commandest and then command what thou wilt. - Augustine

Big thanks to everyone who participated and/or sponsored and/or helped with this years event.  It was a terrific day for a race, and I think everyone had a great time.

Thanks to your efforts, we have exceeded our fundraising goal of $25,000 for 4 years.  Simply amazing.  All Honor and Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It would never happen without the hard work of our wonderful volunteers and my beloved wife Susie, who does a tremendous job.

Results are posted on the website, pics to follow soon.  www.jeffrayburn.com

On a more personal note...speedwork today!  Not a bad day at the track and I feel energized to start my day.

Earth Day, The Flaming Rayburns, and Boston

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  Romans 5:5

Quite a weekend.  Zach and I ran the local "Bolt for Bell" 5k during the Earth Day Event at Brookside Park.  We both ran well and took home some hardware.

Sunday night Susie, Zach, Tyler Skinner and I played a concert in Demotte.  It was great fun and everyone played well.  Susie spoke about autism and OAR.  We raised quite a few dollars for autism research.  Thanks Bill and Bev for inviting us.

In national news, the American hopeful, Ryan Hall, took 3rd place today at the renowned Boston Marathon.  Great job, Ryan, we are proud of you.

He is Risen!

Matthew 28:5 "...The angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.

Acts 16:9 "Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.  And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"  So they said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved."

Happy Easter all.  Just a quick post to say that Shannon and I did the Valpo half marathon this morning and had a great run.  It wasn't too cold or windy and with the hills and being so early in the season, I was pleasantly surprised by my time.  Shannon AKA "The Pink Flash" was happy with her time too.

Blessings.

Good News

Hey, thought a new post was in order.  We have been busy living life around our house lately.  Saturday we had a big celebration open house to celebrate that Chloë has been ONE YEAR SEIZURE-FREE!  We give God all the glory for this and thank Him for this blessing.  Although this pic may not reflect it, she had fun.  It was a beautiful day and lots of folks showed up to give our girl a hug and praise God with us.  Besides the great food that you would expect when Susie is in charge, we also had a keg of root beer and made root beer floats.  Good times.

In running news, Zach and I also ran a 5k Saturday morning in nearby Valporaiso.  We both did well and had a good time.  Great way to kick off the race season.  Shannon and I will be returning to Valpo next weekend for the Valpo half-marathon.
