The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just. (Abraham Lincoln)
Well I did survive the Chicago Marathon and was part of history. Never before had a marathon been shut down due to heat. It was pretty bad. I saw lots of people being carried off on strechers and many more collapseing. But by the Grace of God I was able to finish, even though my time was terrible and I had to take many walk breaks. I did make a new friend, another OAR runner, Doug. We ran and walked together for the last 9 miles or so. We encouraged each other and it was a big help to have some kind of distraction.
Thanks to the OAR Staff, the Miller's, The Marchand's, my cousin Laura, my Mom, Zach and most of all my beloved wife for their terrific support along the course. Thanks to for those prayer warriors and supporters back home. And like the Chicago Cubs are always saying..."There's always next year."
