1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Welcome to the inaugural edition of my blog. This week starts the beginning of my 16 week Chicago Marathon training schedule. Interestingly enough my training was supposed to start Tuesday and there were thunderstorms. Better Tuesday than race day. I am praying for 60 and sunny 10.07.07 if anyone wants to join me in that.
Anyway Wednesday was just an easy 10 miler, the schedule called for 8 but it was beautiful out and I felt good. This morning was supposed to be a 4 mi tempo run at 8:05, but I felt good and it was beautiful out so I pushed it to a 5 mi tempo at 7:25 plus a warm up and cool down of course. A few members of The Cheyenne Running Club were out. It was a great workout. I pray I feel that good on race day. Last years injury haunts my dreams, and I really want to shake that.
I haven't officially started fundraising yet. I am waiting for an email from OAR. I hope to start this very soon. Thanks to Susie and the band, I think we are going to do a benefit concert for my autism run on 7.28. This will be hosted by Devon's Doghouse (my favorite place to have lunch, I always tell Chris (the owner) that the gyros are the best in town.) Anyway, the event will probably include a 5K walk/run and a motorcycle ride.
Enough for now, 5a is fast approaching and brings with it an 8 mi easy run, 10 if the weather is good and I feel froggy.
